Night calling yotes&bobs with red spotlight?

Me and my buddy have been trying to do some night calling lately with a red spotlight. So my ? is when you start calling do you run your red light the second you start calling or do you wait a couple minutes before you start to shine and do you keep shining with it until your done with your stand or do you scan around the area and then repeat every couple minutes?one more ? does the red light scare yotes or bobs at all?Any info helps, thanks

i usally don't mix the to but have in the past. when we used to call and spotlight at night we would set up shine the light to see the area and check for anything close then shut the light down call for a few min then start alternating light on light off every other minute we had some luck but i do better just calling or just shining hope this helps ya out.

Leave the light on, bad mistake to turn it on and off.  One, you will miss animals that come in and leave.  Yotes and cats can see the red light.  They will get suspicious if your turning it on and off.  Once you see eyes keep the main part of the beam right above their heads, leaving just the eyes in the halo.  You'll have MUCH better luck that way.

agreed, and be ready! they tend to come in hard and fast in the dark.....and go out the same. once yu get a shot take it.

Also, make sure the light is on when you are calling, that the caller and spotlight are right next to each other, and that everyone is close to the light so they can see the eye shine.
