.223 and 30-06 hand load info needed

Well I am looking for opionions on these 2 calibers and which powders are recomended.  I am trying to keep costs down so I don't want to buy anything that may not be very good.  I am somewhat new to reloading.  Mostly loaded pistol.  I have all the load data from the major manufacturers but I am looking for personal experience with powders.
The first load would be a 30-06 165 grain barnes bullets and shooting out of a Rem. 700 BDL 22" barrel
The second load would be a .223 55 grain no bullets picked out yet shooting out of an AR-15 20" barrel
The powders I'm looking at are Varget, H335, H4350 and IMR4350.
So.. your thoughts??

I dont load for a 06 but I've loaded for a few 223's. With 55's try the H-335

You can't beat H4350 in the 30-06. That's the powder I use. H414 would be the next powder I would try if H4350 didn't work for me.

The BL-C2 is great for the .223. Varget is a good one too. Don't have a 06 so can't help there but I know imr 4350 is a good powder

IMR 4350 works really well in my Model 70 30-06.  Haven't tried the H4350.

My pet load is pretty standard - 57.0 grains behind a 165gr Nosler partition boattail in Remington brass.  No signs of pressure, pretty flat, and very accurate out of my gun.  Haven't chrono'd it, but it's fast enough for my purposes.  I could heat it up quite a bit, but muzzle blast and felt recoil jump quite a bit - which is annoying to me at the range.

You mean the saboted .223 bullets?  I've been meaning to try that...

For 30-06 I use IMR 4350
For .223 I use Alliant 10x

I just picked up a bottle of Alliant RL 19 and it seems good enough for a .30-06 as well. I just have not worked a load for it yet.

IMR 4350 works really well in my Model 70 30-06.  Have tried the H4350 with equally good results.  My most accurate load is - 57.0 grains behind a 165gr Nosler Ballistic tip boattail OR Accubond BT in Winchester brass.  No signs of pressure, pretty flat, and very accurate out of my gun.  I'm getting groups around .65 inches at 100 yards off the bench...for the first 3 rounds then they open up and right at about a 45 degree angle as the feather weight barrel heats up and end up at about 1.25 inches for 5 shots.  The BT and Accubonds hit very nearly the same place too (+/-0.10 @100 yards)...for basic hunting shots inside 300 yards I dont have to change my zero.

As always, your mileage may vary...and drop 4-5 grains and work back up for YOUR rifle.

That is great accuracy from a featherweight model - I may have to try the ballistic tips myself.

+1 to that.  I started a little hot for an initial load at 52.5 and went up to find where I started to see signs of pressure, then backed down until I zero'd in on the most accurate load without sacrificing too much horsepower (for the partition, anyway). Safety first.  Unless you know your gun from new and know how well it's been taken care of, it's better to start at the book baseline loads.  That's most of the fun, anyway - seeing how your gun handles different loads.

i dont really know anything bout reloading, but id guess thats them. kinda handy to have a few if your hunting somethin big with the 06 and lil a bobcat steps outs. not sure what they do to a pelt though as i have yet to kill with them, but they shoot strait and fast

Every -06 I have shot (4) has loved the IMR 4350 with pretty much any 165/168 gr boat tail.  Have not tried the longer Barnes yet.  I use 56.5 gr.  Largest group was  1 1/4 inch at 100 yards with an old 1917 eddystone shooting peep sight.
