Lake Washington cutts

What is the lowdown on the cutts.  Me and my boy went out this morning with popgear, rapalas, weddingrings, rooster tails, worms, coho killers, downriggers and did not get a bite. We were not on the water till 9 but there were other guys out there and I did not see a net come out. any tips would be greatly appreciated.

You ever drag small, flatlined plugs?

Small kwikfish, wee warts and the like. Natural colors. Rainbow trout, crayfish, no bright orange or pinks.

Let em way back behind the boat. 50' at least. Slow. Cruise along the shoreline, find the shelves, and drag em right on the edges. Find one, flip a u-e, rinse and repeat.

Sammamish is purdy good too.

drag anything that looks like a baby sockeye. It wouldn't hurt to wait a month, either.

 I can second that, I've had best luck from late Winter through early Spring. Turn (zig -zag) as much as you can also.

Thanks guys for the info.  I would love to get it down because it is so quick and easy and my kids like going fishing, this has been helpful because I hate getting skunked with them in the boat I don't want them to loose interest. So once again thanks.

Use small whole herring rigged to spin like a cutplug. Fish the thermal line were the sticklebacks are. You'll get'em.

Believe it or not I personally know this method netted a 6 and 9 pounder 1 hour apart 2 years ago.

Also, if you have kids on board, you could run a herring on either side and run a silver/brass/red dick nite right out the back. You may not catch the whoppers on the dick nite but you usually don't get skunked with em and the kids will have a blast reeling one in whether its a 5 pounder or a 5 incher.

The whole herring trick flat gets em' by the way. I've used that for trout everywhere, eastside, westside doesn't matter. The trick is getting that roll down so its a really nice tight spin, not a helicopter.
