243 shooters
« on: January 11, 2010, 09:24:01 AM »
any 243 shooters have a nice load to blow up some yotes.  not worried about the hide so the more damage the better.  i just got a M70 with a 22" barrel and 1 in 10 twist.  looking for a nice round that will stabilize with this barrel configuration.
thanks,

I'd probably use Nosler Ballistic Tips if I wasn't worried about the hides.

i havent been able to start reloading yet, due to my financial state but ive shot a few with the 55gr. ballistic tiped winchester silver tips, turned them all into piles of goo.  hit one at 30 yards right in the shoulder and it blew a hole in it about the size of a basketball.  very effective even out to 300, hit one at apprx. 300 in the pocket dropped it where it stood, left the pelt ok for but not sellable.

I have used most of the 55gr bullets and had similar results. I use sierra because they are cheap to buy and accurate in my rig.

i bought a couple boxes of 55gr nosler ballistic tips and haven't shot them yet.  I am going to reload once i get some brass and figure out what bullet i want to shoot.  I just dont want to waste a bunch of money on powder i wont use.  and where the hell do you get primers at these days....holy crap.

Hornady 58 gr moly V-Max... can get them for less than $20.00 per box online.  I'm doing a bulk purchase next month.

Hillbilly, Wholesale Sports has increased their inventory of reloading supplies.  That is where I got mine, although in Burlington.  Sportco in Fife also has powder and primers, though they were only selling 200 at a time.

Cabelas generally sucks for actually purchasing anything.  :(
