ODFW survey tonight
« on: January 11, 2010, 07:31:30 PM »
I was just about getting over having to bail on my '09 Roosevelt elk hunt when I got a call this evening from an ODFW employee doing a survey on non-resident hunting success.  When I told him that I only hunted two days and why, he actually said to me, "but you had a non-resident license", as if to question my sanity.  I said, "if you can get me a refund, I'll split it with you".  He then asked if I was planning ot hunt again this year and I said, "only if you guys don't raise the prices again!"

Back story: Two days into the hunt my daughter got really sick back home.  I needed to head home.  We were 10 miles back, bulls going NUTS!, I passed a clueless 3 pt at spitting distance on the first day, and we had an awesome crowned herd bull screaming all day and a handful of satellite bulls running all over.  It was painful to leave but the right decision.

I'll not be elk hunting in Washington again anytime soon. Not to blame them for my lack of elk this year, I've killed 5 in 12 years. Just not impressed with the local SW WA management and I won't contribute to their mismanagement any longer.

I would love to support the WDFW if only they would do a quality job.  Why pay $30,000 dollars for a 92' Ford Explorer when you can buy a 09 Tundra.  Same thing with WA.  I'm in the military and as soon as I move in May I"m changing my residency status to Montana.  Plus our state is about to get worked over as far our increase in taxes go.  All around our state is about to suck.  Thank you Gov. Gregoire.

I just moved back to WA from Oregon.  Do you mind PMing what roosevelt unit you were hunting that you were in 10 miles?  Curious minds want to know.
