I posted a topic about the 870 supermag about a month ago and on monday i went into wallmart and did the papers and i'm now the owner of a camo 870 supermag so i got with the boys and we  are going hunting on sat. and sun. this weekend

excellent choice!  you should enjoy many years and hunting trips with that gun.  i just purchased one myself,  i now have three 870's.

Good guns.  You may want to go shoot a few hundred rounds through it prior to hunting, as some have jamming issues.  I know mine did/does...

already went skeet shootin in the yard so shot about fifty rounds and jamed twice kinda disiponted compared to the old 870 wing masted. but it is nice to be able to shot 3 1/2 so it is worth it

I believe the problem often works itself out after you shoot it a while.

WHat causes the problem? If it's a known problem why doesn't Remington just fix it?

In my experience, the only thing that Remington change in the Supermag compared to the regular 870 (great shotgun) is that they opened up the ejection port to clear the 3 1/2" hull.  This has resulted in some failure to eject problems.

I have one that I use as a back up gun.  Throw a kicks choke in it.

Great gun- had it for about 3 years, just traded up for a Benelli Super Nova.

I had that same jamming issue for about the first 75-100 rds, after I shot and got used to the gun- didn't jam at all. SOLID gun, can't go wrong with it. Congrats!

It definitely just needs some rounds.  Although I don't remember mine jamming when I got it, that was 9 years ago, so it very well could have and I just don't remember.  However, it was very stiff to pump brand new and after a little while it loosened up just right.  I just love the fact I can abuse my gun the way waterfowling will and it just keeps asking for more.

I like the Nova better than the 870.  The 870 is a reliable gun through, just had to many rust issues with the blued ones.  I have worn out a few 870's over the years as well.

did you get the new 887 supermag or an 870?  I am looking into the new 887 supermag... dont know how it is though....

870 Expresses and 870 Wingmasters.  The wingmasters are definately the way to go.  I have looked at the 887, but not into them.  There is a guy with a 870 in the classified adds asking $200.  Probably a good deal for the price.

I have seen at least 2 if not 3 scathing reviews from members of this site on the 887. It's enough for me to keep away from it.
