Blacktail from the past
« on: January 15, 2010, 03:15:44 PM »
I found this pic of a buck I shot a couple years ago and thought I would share it with you. Nothing special but I'll put the story with it anyway,,,,,,

I was hunting an old over grown tree farm and found a few fresh rubs on a trail that I knew were not there the day before. Everyone was busy so I was hunting and filming on my own (I couldn't stand not to go out just because I didn't have a camera guy  :chuckle:) anyway, I made a ground blind out of branches and brush about 40 yards away so I could see the cross trail where the rubs were and sat down to wait,,, and wait,,, and wait,,,, Ok, I wasn't that good at waiting, so after about an hour & a half or so I talked my self into going for a walk. I left the camera on so I could watch the footage when I got back to see if anything walked by while I was gone just to torcher myself. I walked about 75 yards across to another main trail and headed deeper into the tree farm. I didn't get far when I stopped to argue with myself about my decision to leave the blind and camera. I turned around to head back and there he was, poking his head out from behind a tree ON THE TRAIL THAT WOULD HAVE TAKEN HIM RIGHT PASSED MY BLIND AND CAMERA  :bash: !!! He must have thought he was invisible because he just stood there starring at me. I looked at him through my scope, then my bino's, then back through my scope again and decided if I shot him then I would just have more time to film everyone else the rest of the season  :dunno: . Sooooooo  :hunter: BOOM!!! Down he went. You can hear the shot on the camera but of course he wasn't close enough to it to be on film  :'( . Lesson learned!!! Oh well, I ran camera the rest of the season and ended up filming three other blacktail kills so I was happy. THE END!!!

Trust me I was happy to kill such a buck yet pissed at myself that I wasn't patient enough to wait longer and get him on film. Lesson learned, NEVER leave the camera  :bash: !!!

I hope to have Addicted 3 out around April of this year. There will be 12 or more kills on there ranging from cougar to elk. I have been time lining the footage getting ready to head into editing but I haven't gone through it all yet to see what is useable for sure, so I don't have the total amount of kill shots there will be yet but I do know there are going to be at least 12 so far. I hope you all enjoy it.
