I think a no. 1 in 25-06 would be a great gun to have.

I have one in 25-06 that I'd be willing to sell for a fair price.

I'd love to take a look at that, Rainshadow.  I'll PM you for details.

Home Skillet is this a want gun or are you going to actually purchase it?

This gun was in the que for a "want gun" behind a 1894 in 30-30, but it is getting moved up ahead after I played with one last week and didn't get that "feeling"... I got that feeling the one time I ever held a No. 1.  Time is right, and I've made room in the safe.

Great ideas.  I like the big-bore, open-sight concept.  It just looks GOOD that way.  And I am really leaning towards a non-scoped gun.  But, a varminter is needed in the safe - and a 25-06 would be a great deer/yote combo (not selling the pelts, just helping out a rancher I know).  I actually have a Vari X III 3.5x10 40mm I would put on it, and put a Leupold fixed 4x on my featherweight 30-06.  A lot lighter, and I've found I shoot better offhand with a fixed power scope I'm very familiar with than a variable.

theres nothing sayin a bigbore isnt a varminter i think a .45-70 or .450/400 would make a great coyote gun  ;)

I have a few, but my 45-70 is just about perfect with a 3X scope.
