Love this weather
« on: January 23, 2008, 04:32:50 PM »
The title of the thread is not a joke. Fall, winter and early spring are my seasons bar none. Today was killer. -6 F at 0630 right now, 1630, and it is +6 F. Did a lot of walking and skiing today.
Too cold for the dogs feet to be in the bushes for their walk so we stuck to the roads, but after that I packed up the camera, binos, 223 and skiied out the door for the hills and bushes. Second time I spotted the big coyote that is in our area. Actually there are two large ones running together with a couple of smaller ones. I could not shoot today because of a poor back ground. If the fella had been a couple hundred feet lower in the canyon I'd of shot.
These coyotes are very confident of their abilities in running deer. Yesterday they were down low and racing parallel to the herd of deer and today the one I saw was right on the ridge crest with the deer looping along behind them.
Great day out and about.
Becareful out there with wood burning stoves. Make sure that you clean your chiminey regularly and that all the pipe joints are solid. I saw several houses today being rebuilt due to fires! :o

Any ideas on some good cold weather waiders that last a while when hiked in?
