What does this set of anlers score? Mule deer
« on: January 17, 2010, 01:18:05 PM »
I got these a few years back from a house we Bought to remodel. they were hanging up in a garage. Just wondering what you think they might score. We will see if anyone can come close I went to Boon and Crockett and measured it. so star you guesses.

130?
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

Calling an illegal alien an 'undocumented immigrant' is like calling a drug dealer an 'unlicensed pharmacist'.

As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.

I'd still say 140.  Eyeguards don't look big enough to count, and the backs don't look nearly 20+.  Sure you measured the same deer. :)

If you measure from the burs to the tip following the back side all the way to the tip is 21 1/8 in on the right and 20 1/8 on the left.

You dont measure the 2's from the bur. You measure from the beam.

Take a ruler, and find the natural line of the beam that each point comes out of.  Use a pencil and lightly mark it.  This will make it easier to decide where to measure too.  Always side with being conservative.  When measureing mass, remember its the smallest point or smallest mass for that given measurement.  I am guessing the eyeguard isn't quite long enough to count.

No problem, thats why we are here.  Its how you get to know.  Measure measure measure.  Let me know if you have any other questions.

P.S.  Thats why I say 140....not as an insult, just thats about what it looks like, so please don't take it personally.

It looks to be a little bigger than this buck that officially scored 143 and change. so I'd say he is closer to 150

I was measuring from the bur to the tip. I will try to redo it and see what the score is.

Hmmm I still think you are a little high.  Somebody have the boone and crockett form?

Did you measure the beam length and the "G5's"  ,last point or bottom of the fronts, twice ??

Looks like it could be a potential 148"er to me.  In my opinion the medium sized bucks look bigger in pics, and the bigger bucks look smaller in pics.  Very hard to score a deer by a pic..........you can get an idea though. :twocents:
