« on: January 17, 2010, 05:41:32 PM »
Going with a new bow this year and have narrowed it to the Mathews Z7 or the Bowtech 340 Destroyer. I am not sure witch one I am going with yet. Any thought???

I had a post written up, but it occurred to me that you might not be the only person with an equipment question, I started a new thread with the offer I had for you.  I can run your numbers on both bows and let you know how they will perform.

The other bit of advice I had for you was to shoot both of them because one will jump out at you, and that will give you confidence, and that will let you shoot your best.

I shot both side by side last week.  The destroyer felt better to me.  Less vibration on the shot and held noticeably steadier on target.  It felt like I could hold the pin on the spot all day.  Both were very nice bows.  Would be happy to shoot either.  Ii wouldn't stop at those two though.  Tons of killer bows out this year.

I shot the Z7 last weekend.  I liked it so much that I have one on the way.  I wanted to try the Destroyer and the Maxxis, but with my short draw length, I'm limited when it comes to the high end bows.  I'm happy with my choice.

I have shot them both and like them both. I love the draw cycle of the Z7, smooth all the way with a nice valley. The destroyer is a little less nice to draw, but really feels nice in my hand.  :dunno: :dunno:

No problem, just post the info on your setup that I have listed on the other thread, and I'll make it happen.

Got to shoot the Z7 and Monster 7 yesterday.  The Monster was kind of harsh and had a good amount of vibration on the shot.  The Z7 I really liked.  Smooth draw, quiet and shock free.

I wish there was a Bowtech dealer around here.  I really want to shoot the Destroyer.

Hey, why doesn't one of you guys that just bought the Destroyer send it to me for a few days?   :chuckle:

Which one has the least amount of hand torque?  I wonder how many more animals will be lost due to individuals not see where there shot hits.  I was shooting the Reezen and could never see the arrow in flight until it hit the target, but if your shoot at 40 yards and there is a haze to the air, you may never see where the arrow hits on your animal.  They almost need to allow aluma nocks now with the speed bows, so individuals can see there shots.

Are you shooting with both eyes open?  I have no problem seeing my arrows in flight in the 290fps range.

I could see them also when I was in the 290 fps.  Then I jumped into the 315 fps and lost sight of them.

Something to think about.  Better to utilize that power to shoot a heavier arrow I suppose.

I shot the Z7 on Tuesday and I shot the Destroyer today.  The Destroyer felt a lot better to shoot.  The only bad thing the rep stated on the Destroyer is if you draw back and then have to slowly realease the bow back to the non-drawn position some guys are jumping the string off the flat portion of the cam as they end up twisting it as they go back to the non-drawn position.  Just something to think about.  A very nice bow though.  It shot really well.

I went and shot the Z7 again then the Destroyer 340 & 350 to be certain.  I went with the Destroyer 350.  They could upgrade the handle, but other than that it's a great bow.

I wasn't totally thrilled with the stock grip on my 350, so I replaced it with a Torqueless Grip (www.torqueless.com).  Made a huge difference.

I agree Blkbr.  Plus if your deployed you can get a fully set up top of the line bow for $500 bucks.  I believe Fire4effect from here took advantage of that deal when he was looking for a bow.

Sometime ago on this thread I said I would post a pic of the Torqueless grip on my Destroyer.  I finally got around to doing it.  BTW, any Destroyer 340/350 owners out there, I have the same grip, but in in a medium wrist style for sale.  I switched to a low wrist style a month or so ago.  Also, fyi a good read on gripping a bow and wrist styles see http://www.bowsite.com/bowsite/features/practical_bowhunter/grip/index.htm .
