Antelope addicts

I know very little about Antelope.  I know I want to get one someday.  I am starting to fill out all of those apps and then I thought I'd pose the question.  Are there any Antelope addicts on here.  Obviosly if you are, you are applying out of state.  Arizona is about due, Utah is as well.  Anyone going for it?

I had a similar ambition to get one once in my life.  I almost drove down to Idaho and bowhunted them last year.  You can buy an over the counter tag for them bowhunting in Idaho.  Bring your double bull blind and set it up on a water hole.  Then drink whiskey until they come in.  That's my plan anyways...  I tried to get my cousin to go with me but he was busy with something.  I didn't really want to do it myself as it doesn't sound as fun for some reason.  Maybe this will be the year.  I think the season starts before everything else in August so it's not a conflict with anything but my salmon fishing trips.  I don't really care if I get a hog.  Just a nice 14-16" heart shaped buck is what I want.  I guess I could just put in an application for Wyoming and go do it.  I have seen zillions around Gillette.  I don't think the tags are hard to come by either.

I've killed a handful across 3 different states.... MT, WY, and CO.  I've never killed anything too big.... a couple small bucks and some eater does.  Hard to go wrong w/ MT.... probably your best odds and best access.  WY may have better bucks if that's what you're really looking for... access is pretty good too.  Never looked into NM, UT, or AZ.  I believe draw odds there are likely tougher.

They are in the works, probably not for a few years but I am building points in Wyoming and will probably put in for New Mexico as well, probably Arizona too.  They are a great looking mount for sure.

I have shot at least 8 in wyo when I lived there. My first big game animal was a prarie maggot that is what we called them. I will dig up some pics and post them.

Antelope are a blast to hunt.  I went for the first time last year and was able to take a good 14 inch buck on public land near Gillette Wyoming.  It was an easy tag to draw the only draw back is knowing what land is public and what is private.  I was lucky enough to have some local connections.  Our group went 7 for 7 on antelope and mule deer on a 5 day hunt, needless to say it was a busy 5 days.

I've been back to Montana twice for antelope, last time in 2001. I love it. It's just a lot of fun and not a lot of work like elk hunting. I've been wanting to go to Wyoming and when I do I'd like to get two doe tags in addition to the buck tag. The problem with Montana is their antelope season is in mid-October, right when I want to be hunting something here in Washington. Wyoming has some earlier seasons, some in September and others in early October. Also I have 9 points for antelope in Oregon so it should be only about 2 more years before I draw there.

i plan on going to wyo in 2009. i'll put in for a 100% unit and pay a trespass fee. i also plan to get a doe tag or 2. it's not a challenging hunt from what i hear, but it's something i've wanted to do for  a while now.

I am planning on bringing my 2 boys this year to Wyo! Talked to a guide tonight and they had tags left over at the end of the season last year and where 100% on goats

Hey pope i just moved to idaho so if you decide that next year you want to bow hunt antelope and cant find anybody to go along just hit me up on here, i wont be a resident in time for the draws so im gonna do the archery thing this year.
