I have a Timney #3 in one of my ARs. Not exactly a "drop-in" (had to do a little fitting after I figured out why the bolt kept seizing) for my DPMS. The new trigger is a definite improvement.

I tried a Timney, and I have mixed feelings. It is a definite improvement, however it wasn't near as good as I thought it would be. It still broke around 5 lbs, and had (what I consider to be) a lot of "gritty" feeling creep. I have Timney triggers in two other bolt guns and they are superb. I did the "internet 15 minute trigger job" on mine. Except for the creep, it felt about the same as the Timney. Definitely better, but still not the best. Next thing I try will either be a Geiselle (spelling?), a McCormick, or the one that really intrigues me is the new one from Jerry Mickulek. It's spendy, but I've come to realize that you get what you pay for. It's sold by a company called "American Trigger Corporation", or by PACT. The ATC website gives all the particulars.

Id stay away from mccormick they have issues. as for the timney breaking at 5lb it must have been a 4lb trigger to begin with. My 3lb timney breaks at 2lb14oz and has no creep no gritty feel just breaks like a glass rod. And the other triggers arnt a simple drop in like the timney.

Although the Timney is an improvement, I was still able to group very well with the "crappy" factory trigger. It was almost like a two-stage trigger... once I got a "feel" for it, the trigger would break at about 6 lbs after I took up the slack.

I've never used a Timney, but did have a Jewell on my Les Baer AR.....it was really nice. An option if the others aren't working for you.
