I met Tracy at Cabala's and talked with him about his turkey hunts. I went turkey hunting for the first time last year and that was why I was considering him. He seemed like a nice guy. Never booked with him but did think about it seriously. I thought the price was okay.

You'll find out that Levi will be your guide most likely.  (Tracy's son) They are very nice people and extremely good guides, especially when it comes to fishing. I've seen some nice birds in the area's they hunt/guide.. You can shop around and find someone cheaper. But I promise you can't go wrong with the Zoller's.  Good people too say the least.  I've fished/hunted the Klick for yrs. and have nothing bad to say about the Zoller's..  Except!!!!! leave me some fish!!!

The only comment I have is that you are most likely going to be hunting with the masses as well. I think he would have said private land in his post if he hunted it. So you are going to be on state/logging company land with everyone else too.

Good point about the public land.  I'll be sure to ask that.  I have no idea what hunting pressure is like there.  I suppose it depends when are where you are hunting.

When I talked with Tracy he said it would be public land. $200 for two turkeys is okay if you could get it done in one day. Not sure how easy that would be. I think it is a fair deal compared to what I have seen on the net. Could be fun!

The amount of birds on most any ranch in Texas turkey country is going to be far greater than in Klickitat Co. If you want two longbeards, I wouldn't count on killing them the same day in that country. Besides, then your turkey season is over in one day unless you go chase Rios or Easterns. I've never been on any sort of guided hunt, but I'd look to the NE corner if I was going to. That way you would nearly for sure be on private land with an outfitter.

Point of clarification ---
You're allowed 2 eachbirds in Eastern Washington in the Spring, and for turkey hunting purposes only they consider the Klickitat to be in "Eastern" Washington. So be clear that if someone gets their 2 turkeys in Klickitat, they can only go for the 1 each Eastern here on the "Wetside" (ie - no Rio as your 3rd bird).

There has been a lot of confusion over the years on this, especially the way WDFW has chosen to word this in their "Spring Turkey Hunting" book (clear as mud).  I want to make this perfectly clear so no one gets in deep turkey "doo", is fined, or loses their hunting priveleges.

The areas that this outfit hunts, tend to be the areas that are harder to access...meaning, there tends to be less hunting pressure during turkey season in those areas. I considered going on a hunt with them last year and picked Tracy's brain a bit. I ended up doing my own thing near Lake Roosevelt and striking out.

I fish a ton in the area and you can get away from the masses fairly easy by putting on your boots or bringing a bicycle.

i always get into the birds i got 2 last year opening day. don't know if you hunt here "klick" but that is a pretty big assumtion to make if you don't hunt here.

Fishhunt ... not a problem ... the wording in the WDFW phamplet is confusing at best, and I just don't want someone to make an honest mistake and get busted for life.

Take Tracy up on the guided fishing trip, they are excellent in producing the fish, wouldn't waste my time with the guided turkey hunting. Turkey populations are as strong as they have ever been within the area, but so are the amount of hunters and alot of private property to boot. Yes put on your hiking boots hunt the timber company properties and the state lands that are still available and you will find birds for yourself and save the minimum $200.00 for the hunt, and use it for your gas, been hunting it for 30 years know the country well, good luck.

Who ever said I don't hunt there? Congrats to you carp. I've killed two throughout the season for the past however many years, as have my dad and younger brother. Didn't know we were d*ck measuring.   It's not an assumption and I'll leave it at that. I'm not saying it can't be done. All I'm saying is that, chances are, you aren't going to call in groups of longbeards and have the chance at two like you would in other counties.

easy there i would watch what you say.and we were not talking diffrent counties we were comparing it to texas if you would look back at your original post.and you might want to read the regs a bit better before you post i never said you didn't hunt hear but it didn't sound like you know what you were saying by the mistake of the regs and not knowing the laws.

It was one mistake. I'm not Jesus. You never make them, I assume. I meant Easterns, then I got to thinking about the slam, and wrote both Rios and Easterns. I know full well it's 2 eastern WA birds (one in Yakima, Kittitas, and Chelan I believe) and one WW bird. And I do know a lot about turkeys and turkey hunting. I also don't need you to verify that to feel good about myself. You'll see my success pics in a few months.

I know FH ... good young man and an excellent hunter and one of the better callers in the state ... he just mis.spoke himself ... easy enough to do ... been known to do that myself a few times ...

Thanks dancer, appreciate it. We never ever have these birds figured out, so we are all new in some respect. Some of us mis-speak too. But back to the topic. If anyone takes this guy up on his guiding, defininely post a report.

Pretty sure I ran into this guy on the Klick this fall when they had the fall permit season. They managed to combo it up pretty good with a couple of steelhead a nice king and 3 birds.

LOL. If I remember the last bird I saw in the back of your truck it had a possible 3" beard if I'm not mistaking, and oh yeah I had my to long beards already even with a bow mind you, not like your jake with the thunder stick..
