hand gun grip size?
« on: January 26, 2008, 07:33:22 PM »
I am thinking about getting a 44 mag for hunting/ backup. I was at Sportsman's werehouse the other day and was looking at a few of them. The smith&wesson sure felt nice in my hand as far as balance goes but the grip was too small. The Ruger wasn't quite as balanced but the grip and overall feel was much better. I know from reading some of the other posts on here that some of you know way more about this than I do. Any suggestions?

Most people change the grip anyway. Choose a pistol you like. Good Luck

Was the grip really that small.  (I had the same response though).  You could use some sort of wrappable material on the smith grip.  Or get a different grip like slider says.  The Pac grips that come the new ones are a little thin but unless you have HUGE hands I'd think the other factors would outway that.

I've got a smith.  Still wouldn't mind a slightly beefier grip but like I said, if the smith qualifies in all,(or the most), other catagories...no contest.  44mag is a commitment not to be sold.  Get the one that requires the least of you in terms of modifications or compromises.

Get the gun you want and put grips on it.  Stock guns only generalize the grips.
