Any Idea's?

This mallard was killed by a guy I work withs kid.  The snowgoose was supplied by a enforcement officer out his truck to compare size for the picture.  Its the only photo I have at this time.  I guess they kids grandpa took it over to get it stuffed since the kid is pretty excited about such a big duck.



My guess is a crossbread with a tame duck that was traveling with some wilds?

my cousin killed a huge mallard as well like the size of that one crazy how big they can get.

While that is a big duck, it is not that unusual.  We get big birds like that outside of Burbank.  That had to be really exciting for the kid that shot it

Probably a cross or a domestic mallard.  I have viewed a few in parks that look just like a mallard, but are huge.  Check to see how much Wonder Bread is in its neck.    We used to thin out all the morage ducks we could as they didn't want them to mix with the wild population and spread disease.

i just shot this one yesterday night. i dont have a snow to compare it in size but it is a big drake for sure. i used a tape measure instead. it was 2 feet long. i guss this one makes up for the mallard drake i shot last week that was the size of a widgeon.

living on the east side..we don't see to many snows but wouldn't this be a Ross?? much like the cackler? Or i guess some huge park drake lol...the culmen or bill length on that snow might be a little to big the be a ross though.

No its a normal sized snow goose.  The size of the drake was what was interesting.  I have seen some park ducks that size, but I guess he must of felt the call of the wild and went a traveling with wild ducks.  Maybe found a cute hen and thought wild was hot.

the thing that really looks funny about that mallard to me is the feathers on it... the bird looks way abnormally puffy compared to all the mallards i have seen shot....
