Scope experience
« on: January 28, 2010, 10:32:07 AM »
Anyone have any firsthand experience w/ Mueller scopes?  I currently have a Bushnell 6-18 Banner Dusk/Dawn on my 223.  I'd like to upgrade but don't want to spend a fortune.  I've read several reviews on the Mueller tacticals but have never seen em.  At mid/high 200$ they seem like a good value but I don't know if they really represent an appreciable upgrade to what I got.

The other one I'm looking at is the new Bushnell DOA.  It too sells in the mid 200$ range.  Supposedly a step up from Banner but again I haven't seen one.

Hopeful there's some firsthand knowledge out there.

I have a Mueller APV, very clear and tracks well.  I had it on a 243 and 22.250 and now use it for load work on most of my predator guns.  Last summer picked up a Mueller 8x32 SF 30mm tube for my 22LR paper puncher, again very clear even at 32x.  Mueller has a great warrenty progam also.  The folks over at Rimfirecentral like them.

After the first shot the rest are just noise.

Intruder, not to highjack the thread, but I also have the bushnell banner dusk/dawn, and have a question for you if yours comes with the BDC turrets.  If yours does, does yours also have the standard dial for the elevation, that looks the same as the windage dial?  I cant remember if mine came with it and I took it off when I put on a turret and then lost it the normal dial, or if they dont come with the dial to begin with.  I can adjust the elevation without a turret, I just have to stick a nickel into the silver slot, instead of using my fingers to twist the adjustment.
The only difference between a butt kisser and a brown noser is depth perception.

Mine just has the standard adjustments.... no special turrets.  It has 50mm Adjustable Obj.

I think it would be better named Midday rather than Dusk/Dawn  :chuckle:  It's pretty clear but not real bright and starts to lose something as you crank the power past 12.

 :yeah:

I also picked one up when they were first offered... well-made, nice looking scope for a great price.  I have it on a heavy-barreled .223.  Haven't shot it yet, but will as soon as it warms up a bit.
