bear and blacktail euro's
« on: January 29, 2010, 06:50:06 AM »
Whiskeydrinker and I finished a couple skulls over the weekend. The bear is his and the blackie is mine, both from 09....Question for the taxi's- even after a good scrub and soak in degreaseing soap, then peroxide the bear skulls we do always seem to eventually seep grease back through, esp. around the brain cavity...is there anything else that we can try to degrease them better? Thanks for any tips :)

You'll just have to keep degreasing until it is gone. I take it you are using dawn and hot water to degrees with?? It takes a while to degreese a bear.

I degrease in Dawn Dish soap and water with a fish tank heater for several weeks changing the water every 2 - 3 days.  Than I put them in clean water over night with NO heater.  Than I put them in Acetone for a month.  Pull it out and let it dry.  If it showes grease put it back in for another month.  and repeat til no grease comes out.

No, not a lot of work.

If you want a grease free skull than that is what you are going to have to do.  If not than your only other option is to live with yellow spots.
