Old Bear Skull Finnished (MNTaxidermy)
« on: January 31, 2010, 02:41:00 PM »
Here is a Bear Skull I just got done cleaning using Maceration.  Not sure how old this Bear was when it was killed but almost all the teeth on the bottom jaw were worn down to roots.

Lot of bone degrading on the skull around the teeth and the inside nasal bones.  Normally a younger Bear will have 2-3 time the amount of inner nasal bones as this one does.  Almost looks like honey comb.

The front bottom teeth were being held in place by the gums.  All the K-9's were chipped and broke.

Thanks Guys!

Yes Bucklucky, it was an old Sow.

Those sinuses are really degraded.  Probably one of the worse I have had come through the shop.  Wait til I post a picture of a younger Bear.

Fantastic work Michelle!  I think I saw that one when I visited your shop.  You were trying to put her dental history back together, right...? :chuckle: :chuckle:
