good luck with that.  cougars are a prized commodity around here and if a hunter has seen sign or the cat itself i doubt he/she will be sharing.  i finally spotted the cat ive been tracking for a few years about a month ago and ive only shared that info with a few select people.  good luck with your search though

I don't see a problem with a guy asking for help finding cougar areas. If he kills one he's doing us all a favor. It's different than asking for deer/elk spots.

Poison creek drainage....north shore. I'm not hunting cats this year so I don't care about giving this info out. Good luck and I hope you tag one. Swing by the intro thread and tell us alittle about yourself. You might get more positive responses that way. Unless your not planning to be a part of this great site and wanted some free info than...... :hello:

If he kills a cat I don't care if he ever posts again. Although it would be WAY better if he killed a cat based on a tip he got from here, and then posted the story and picture. That's what this board is for. As I said, he'd be doing us all a favor.

I'm thinking we may never see him on here again. He logged off 5 minutes after his first and only post, and seeing that he left an email address in the post, it makes me think he may not be planning on being back. Oh well. I'm assuming from his user name that he's a hound hunter. I hope he does get some helpful info sent to his email address and I hope he kills a cougar, or three. :)

i like seeing a dead cat as much as the next deer hunter, especially with supposed cat population around here but as a predator hunter being able to tag a cat is right at the top of my list.

i just feel like something as rare as being able to successfully hunt and kill a cougar is something that requires some personal investment of time.  if someone wants to share their spots great, but im keeping mine.

jmho,
Steve

Oh, I don't blame you for that. If I was hunting cougars myself I wouldn't be giving my spots away. But how many people are actually going cougar hunting in Chelan County this winter?

I agree. Personal investment of time is what I require of myself to hunt. That is what I enjoy. With that being said I'm sure a lot of you are familiar with the poison creek drainage on the north shore of Chelan. Large area, tough to hunt and NASTY. I have seen a lot of cat sign and a few cats as well up there recently and would love for one or more be taken out of there. Have also seen a good number of Bighorns up there and they could use all the help they can get. Less cats.....better for them. ;)

i wasn't implying that you did Bobcat just stating how i felt about the original posters post.  and yes there arent very many active cat hunters around here.  almost all of the cats that i know of being taken were simply stumbled upon by deer hunters.

NWBrew---
is the road from Antillon that goes to poison creek passable by passenger vehicle or is it better suited for quads, in the summer time i wouldnt dare it now.  i havent been in that area for a couple of years not sure how well the chelan ranger district is maintaining non-essential roads wit the budget and all.  wouldnt mind getting some photos of the bighorns up there.

passible- yes, Car  :bdid:, Mitchell creek had a washout and they changed it around and fixed it. No big problem with a truck or quad.

Hey, Sorry guys i just heard about this site and have been on others for awhile before i found out about this one i thought it was pretty cool that someone had a site for us washington hunters being as our rights have been taken away, didn't expect to get so much negative feedback from my fellow hound hunters in WA, the way i look at we have lost enough of our rights with hound hunting is it so bad for us stick together? i have been away in chelan county tracking some long tails, going back over again i know a hot spot where the cats have been killing dogs, and tracking kids, i have kids a 4yr old daughter and a 11 year old son and my wife who LOVE to hunt with hounds and my wife is almost 5 months pregnant and she gets out and hunts.  we love the sport we have 5 hounds and that includes a 100 % cameron female ukc,  walker/blue tick, 2 walkers, bloodhound majestic black and tan, and a half cameron/bluetick so yes we have hounds.  what would make you think i wouldn't come back on this site with the POSITVE replies?? bottom line it doesn't matter if i was only on day or 2 years the fact is you have another member to chat with. to you guys that were helpful hey man i appreciate it, hopefully it becomes better to be on this site and i am just happy there is somethng local

777, I hope you get some of those cats on the north shore of Chelan. Don't take comments on here personal. There seems to be some that puts a first post asking for info with no intentions of contributing anything in return. There is an intro thread....swing by it and tell a little about yourself (kinda like you just did). This is the best hunting and fishing site on the web with some great members. Please feel free to share some stories and pics.......we are kind of addicted to stories and pics. :chuckle: :chuckle: Welcome and good luck with the cats.

Wow sure is nice to see a lot of you whom like to see cougars harvested in this state. I belong to the Seattle Sportmen's Conservation Foundation and the Seattle Puget Sound Chapter of SCI and we are the one's that have been funding the cougar DNA studies for the last 7 years or so and spent somewhere around $40-50,000 to help the hound handles out on their cost to get this done. Want to know why you can hunt with hound again this is why. We put our $$ out there to help the hound guys and us hunters, to get these killers back under control. If you want to help us raise money for projects like this we are having our fundraiser on Feb 19th -20th, 2010 in Bellevue, Wa. You can visit our Website at www.working4wildlife.com/ . There will be 60 exhibitors, lots of raffle guns to give away, 300+ silent auction items and 3 different auctions . Come support a good cause and find out what we are all about.

well walker777 we hit her hard last weekend and found too many tracks and coulndt line one out.  no new snow and a couple kills makes it even harder for the best of the pot lickers.  wish i could go this weekend its going to snow up there and now that we know were 3 different cats are you will have a good chance.  thanks for the info guys but officer grant sent us in the right directions.  not all wardens are against hound hunting.  grant was the best warden i have ever delt with.  keep em treed this weekend walker777.  dont forget about the other 2 we got the call for down here in yakima county.  you other hounders out there i may need your help.  got 2 cats killing sheep and a dog and just got the call from the wsdfw to remove them using hounds.  only problem is the trees are few and far between and everything else is desert.  i will keep ya posted.  hey walker777 i think you should go after that huge track on mission ridge rd by the state park. :chuckle:
