Got the 300 RUM dialed in
« on: February 02, 2010, 07:30:42 PM »
Shot the RUM last sunday to check what kind of group I could get at 200 yards and boy was I happy. First of all thanks Josh T for the load!! I'm shooting a 208 A Max with 93.5 grians of retumbo powder. Here are the results, sorry but pic was taken with cell phone. I measured center to center on the two outside bullets and it measured 3/4''!!  :IBCOOL:

That's a great group for 200 yards. I'd be very happy with that. Just wondring though, is that A Max meant for hunting?

That is impressive for a 300 supermagnum!   Where are the rest of the groups?   :chuckle:

I was pleased to see how well your 300 RUM shot, it's the 2nd one I know of that shoots just like that.  Mine will be here in a few days, it's a SS on Synthetic in a Hawkeye.  Already bought a 4.5 x 14 VXIII Luopold with BC reticle, have two more of these and love them.  Hope you don't mind i wrote down your load and have another using Barnes X bullet.  Well I'll keep my crosshairs straight hoping for a group like that and I have a Rem. 300 ultra mag. and It does. ;)   :)   Agin awesome shooting :)

What kind of work did you have done to it? That surely isn't out of the box.

I shoot a remington sendero so it has a fluted barrel, free floating, but other than that I sent it to holland guns for a brake and a new trigger spring kit and thats it. It has a Zeiss 6-20x50 conquest with target turrets so that makes shooting long range a lot easier once you have put a drop chart together. As of right now I can hit 8 out of 10 milk jugs at 950, but gonna work on that range with only a bi-pod and no sand bags.
