Most of unit is DNR and wont be part of hunt, plus there isn't any bear in unit :chuckle:

Stick, do you know for sure the DNR land won't be included in the spring bear permit? I haven't seen that printed anywhere.

7017 Lincoln a That portion of GMU 501 that is designated
as the hunt area by participating commercial
timber landowners.
50 April 15-May 31 NEW

Key words being "participating commercial timber landowners"
I am not certain DNR will not be part of it, but thats a good guess.
 :dunno:
I have spent most of my time on DNR land, but did have a sow and cub walk in on me last spring while turkey hunting on Weyerhauser land.
Because I was fter a gobling tom at the time, I will be back at same spot this spring............

OK, yeah I did see that wording but I didn't think it necessarily meant DNR land would be excluded. If anything, I would think it should be the other way around, that DNR land would be open and Weyerhaeuser closed. Reason being is that Weyerhaeuser is issued depredation permits which they give to hound hunters to use on their land. But hound hunting is not allowed on DNR land, so it would make sense if the Spring bear permit was ONLY for DNR land. But who knows. Hopefully they will tell us before the application deadline is here.
