Hey guys, anyone have any input on what grain to us? Any brands work better for you? I need to go pick up a bunch of rounds for my new sako coming in Monday. Thanks for the help!

I don't have one but I'd use the same bullet and weight that I use in my 270, 140 grain Barnes TSX.

My son has done just fine with Remington CoreLokt in 140gr. in his Tikka T3. I am just getting ready to start reloading some rounds using Nosler partitions and Sierra's in various grains. We shall see.

140gr is the standard, but for the all-copper constructed bullet, which tend to be long for weight, I'd consider 120's.
Do you have powder?
Varget is like the standard for the case, I use H414 and like the low temperature sensitivity, since it can be 90 or 15 when I'm shooting.

thinkingman, you're right the 120's in an all copper bullet may be better than the 140. Higher velocity and more reliable expansion.

copper is for wire.  Use 140gr accubond and back that up with some Rl 17 or IMR 4350.

I shoot 120gr. nosler balistic tips in mine. Nosler makes the 120 with a thicker jacket then the others in this caliber.
The other bullet thats shot well for me is the 120gr barnes tsx
Both bullets over 44.5 gr of RL-15 are running right about 3000 FPS.

140 gr Partitions pushed by Win. 760 powder.  Great load for anything around here.

I've pretty much settled on the 140 Sierra Pro-Hunter (flatbase).  Over Varget, it's very accurate out of my M70 Featherweight.

Federal Fusion will kill anything you want to shoot with it, until you get your own loads worked up.  Very good ammo.

i shoot 44g of h380 with a combined technology bullet which is a ballistic silver tip 140 grains threw my weatherby cfp and my new r-25 in 7mm-08 both guns are driving tacks i am going to try some nosler partition as well later but my r-25 shot 2 groups .30 and .25 at 100 yards with those loads. 140 grains provides the best overall trajectory/energy and is much better than the 120 in that gun i use to think the 120 was the best until i put the same load with a 120 against a 140 on my ballistic software i have then energy and trajectory by the 140 blows the 120 out of the water.

also for factory ammo the winchester ballistic tip ammo that you can buy at most sporting good stores is the same c/t silver tip that i am loading in the above load and i bought 2 boxes for my pistol when i had not got my componets yet and they shot very very good for factory ammo.

I found the same results using the 140 gr. bullets.  Better trajectory, more energy down range.  I am using both Partitions and Ballistic Tips, both with great results.  I hunt with the Partitions, since I may stumble into a bear, not likely with my luck, but one never knows.

fusion shoots fine out of mine, handloads shoot better but the fusion works.
