Springers on the CR
« on: February 10, 2010, 07:21:41 AM »
I have been receiving reports from the buddies that they have started catching the Springers in the Vancouver to Longview stretch.  It looks like a few have also gone over the damn.  Should be a big run and they are starting early.
Cut em!
It's not the shells!  It's the shooter!

I heard they adopted a barbless hook reg for Jan. 2011 on the Columbia River.  I guess they figure the sport fisherman are hurting to many fish vs. the non-selective gill nets of the commercial and Indian tribes.  Don't forget the seals and sea lions.   :bash:

I fished Cowlitz on Sunday and saw a 20-pounder king rolling in Blue Creek area. My friends did not believe... oh well... Now I know.

It is still REALLY early for springers down here. I am not sure about one on the Cowlitz I would have to see it to believe it, last year they were late. They are expecting huge runs. I would wait at least another three weeks before hitting it to hard. I do have 40 some odd packs of green and blue label ready to go. I have only had reports of like 8 caught below I5, credible reports though.

I have been using barbless hooks already, if you know what your doing it won't make any difference. Plus you can still use trebbles.

A budy of mine caught a springer last week on lower cowlitz.
If it flies it dies.

Come on Springers!!!!  Get over that dam,  :chuckle:   :fishin: :cue: :EAT:
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

Calling an illegal alien an 'undocumented immigrant' is like calling a drug dealer an 'unlicensed pharmacist'.

The things that come to those who wait, may be the things left by those who got there first!
