i got my first .223 bolt action today

anyone out there got one? for coyotes head shots or body? how do they perform?

Sure don't need to go for head shots. I'd say the 223 is just about the best coyote cartridge there is. Should be good out to 300 yards.

I've had a few .233's and everyone shot well, Easy to find a load the was accurate.

What brand is that? is that a camo stevens? I was trying to get my hands on one when wholsale wass having that sale the last few days but could,t get my hands on one...

ya its a camo stevens made by savage cabelas just got a new shipment in of the shot it today i put 5 in a 1 1/2 circle at 100 yards not bad it was of the vice though but i need to do a trigger job on it realy bad

Nice!  They had a "plain" Stevens 200 in .223 at the Couer d'Alene Wholesale Sports for $200.00 (I just picked up one in .243.)  My .223 Stevens will shoot 1/2" with Black Hills and Fiocchi V-Max loads.

The rifles (they had some Stevens, Browning, CZ, Remington and TC) were on clearance because they were old inventory.  The half-dozen Stevens 200 (I saw one in .223, .22-250 and .25-06) that they had left was it.  I took off early from work and did a hour and a half round-trip to pick one up.

i would like the 22-250.  any idea how long it takes for them to order one in if they dont have any left in stock at the end of this month?
