Yep, more cat pics
« on: February 14, 2010, 05:33:44 AM »
We treed this Tom last Tuesday off a fresh kill, between 2 roads about 1000 yards apart.  We'd been running all week waiting for him to cross out and he never did.  So, I got curious yesterday and walked back in there.  He was still right there, and I mean right there!  That tom had not left a 60 yard circle all week.  He had a bush he crapped under about 30 yards away and that was as far as he went.  Pretty interesting I thought.  Tons of coyotes in the area with lots of coyote tracks about 20 yards away from the kill, but none any closer.  I think he had to stay that close to guard it, his only bed was within feet of the kill.  Notice the quill in his chin.

Here he is on Tuesday.

Absolutely great pictures....the picture of the dog in the tree is just hilarious... It has to be fun to go on a hunt for cougars with dogs...someday maybe when the funds allow it  :chuckle: Thanks for sharing

Great pics, very cool. Would love to draw a hound tag one of these days.  That guy is a melon head as well.
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.

There is nothing better than getting to the tree and seeing your dog's treeing the cat with all their might, barking every breath.  Love to see dogs tree like those, agressively, looking the cat in the eye.  The music them dogs make when running a hot trail is the best music in the mountains.
  Great pictures and awesome dog's. :)   :)

Love those pics!  Kitty was not happy!  lol.  Some great looking dogs, too.
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

Thanks for sharing...I can just imagine the 'music' echoing thru' the trees.
