Damn Dog!!
« on: February 17, 2010, 03:02:47 PM »
Every time I turn around she has my s$%t strung out in the yard. Had set my pack down on the porch today and she got into it and had every thing out of it an strunning about the yard. Anything hunting that may have food in it, she'll get into and find food or plastic bags and will rip them open. I think I'm going to put a burrito in it with lots of cyan pepper in it. She doesn't like the pepper!!

How old is the dog?  Lab's are a pain in the butt for a while.  Then they are the best once their through the juvenile stage.  Just got to get the puppy out of their system...

Mine is hitting three and I am actually seeing some maturity! He still steals anything and every thing that has my scent or my wife's scent on it. He then likes to play keep away, but we have been working on that so now he comes to us and gives the item back ASAP. Instead of scolding him I tell him he has done a great service etc. Happy boy happy camper.

Cyan Pepper may or may not work.  My lab pup was starting to become a digger and a chewer.  So I got a big bottle of Cyan and dumped it in the holes, smeared it on the wooden table legs ect.  The damn dog went around and lapped it all up.  Thankfully he finally outgrew both habits.

Yeah she's 3yrs old. Not working right now, so she gets tons of attention. She hates cyan pepper, even the smell of it. She doesn't hurt anything in the packs, just food items. This is not the first time either. Has done it several times out duck hunting and afterwards in the car. She is really sneaky about it. Well she went an cut her toe open an now is in lockdown in her kennel. Cleaned up the mess from my pack came inside for a few minutes and when I went back outside blood all over my porch. Just about freaked out!!  :( I hate it when she hurts herself. Guess I'm just a big softy when it comes to her.  :)

Well made it thru the night blood has stopped. :) No need for the vet. Which said it could not really do anything cause of where the cut is on her toe pad. She is going to be full of energy by the time she heals.  :)

Hey Snowman I might suggest having a doggie med kit around the house.  I carry an emergency kit with me out hunting birds so I have one around the house.  (my dog seems to be accident prone)  In the kit I carry styptic power (stops bleeding) and the medical version of super glue for cuts (to lazy to go into the other room to find the name of it).  Both good for injuries to the dog when you can't get to the vet.

Have everything except the styptic powder. Made Dog kit up when I got her. Thanks though and is a great reminder to all who own hunting dogs. I carry a little kit in my blind bag when we are out in the field.

I feel your pain, mine sleeps under our bde and snores and it gets worse when he lay's his head against the bed post. Our bed is a log bed, so it amplifies the sound throught the bed.

Get a bottle of Dave's Insanity hot pepper sauce and splatter as muchof it as you can on a sandwhich of some kind.  Repeat until she stops.  She will stop too.
Look man, some times you just gotta roll the dice
