Oh do I have a story for you!!!

In 2000, I was several months from retiring from the military and trying to figure out what I was going to do.  One of the things I was considering was opening a franchise called Critter Control.  Turns out not to be very profitable way to do NWCO duties, but I was considering it anyways.  So I call Region One and speak to Capt Whorton.  Hey sir I'd like to get on the waiting list for the next NWCO class.  Ok, he takes my name.  I say I'm in no hurry, but just curious when you think you'll have the next class.  Capt Whorton related we're not going to have another class for quite some time until the guys currently doing it go out of business.  Huh?  Yes we here at the WDFW think there are too many guys doing it, so we're not going to have another class till these guys go out of business.  Ah I don't think that is legal?  If you require the class, the state can't say who can and cannot be in business???  So I called Olympia and spoke to those folks.  Oh he didn't say that.  Ah yes he did, those exact words.  Call him back, you must have misunderstood him.  I called him back and he starts complaining about how much the current guys are charging.  Which is none of the State's business and if he is only allowing a few guys to be licensed, what did he expect, there's no competition!!  Anyways I finally had to drive north of Moses Lake to a different region to get the class and it took me nearly 11 months from the time I asked until I got to go to the class, and the class is a complete JOKE!

I had to go to Region 2 office to get my NWCO license. Olympia just couldn't figure it out.

That test is a joke.

Are you sure you cant charge for it?  I dont see that anywhere in my trapping regs.  You can only trap during the season and with legal traps but it doesnt say you cant charge for it.   :dunno:  Am I missing something?

If I could charge, which I cant, I cant get the Jobs Ive got lined up without a nwco license..If I were to buy the cages and hancocks I would be into mega money, hancocks 400 a pop ,and good cages, are very expensive .and easy to spot by the public..
