Cougar Tracks?
« on: February 25, 2010, 08:32:08 PM »
A fresh layer of snow hit last night, but I went out shed hunting anyways.  I parked the truck and was walking up into the shed grounds when I cut these tracks in the road.  I think they're cougar tracks after looking around the internet. Being from the west side and without snow, I'm not sure that I've ever seen them, or at least ever recognized them as cougar tracks.  The pads were pretty good size in comparison to my hand, and you could see the feet were even larger than just the pad. There were no claws in the tracks, and the strides were anywhere from 15-20" apart.

Anyways, what do you guys think?

This was about an hour north of Moscow, ID.  If there is a hound season going on over here and someone has some dogs and wants to know where it was at I'd be more than willing to show you where if you let me come along.  :chuckle:

Haha yeah, they're only about 24 hours old.  How fresh do they have to be in order to make it worthwhile to go after 'em with the dogs?

It would be good under 16 hrs.  If its old track, I could take a hike or look at the Map give me a GUESS where would path could possible lead toward ridge or whatever where it go to and try find AHEAD local and find track if lucky find then turn loose!
