Entiat whitetail?
« on: February 18, 2010, 10:28:35 PM »
Good day shed hunting. 5 total, 3 brown and 2 white. I read a post about whitetail in Mills canyon but didnt think anything about it till today. Sure look like whitetail to me! You be the judge!

Nice finds.  100% Muley.
:yeah:  I'd say this is a very typical example of muley antlers being mistaken as whitetail.

I understand that people sometimes mistake mulie antlers as whitetail...I have hunted both whitetail and mulies for 15 years and have never seen mulie horns look this whitetail-ish. You can't tell in the pics but the smaller antler does have an eyeguard and I am almost positive belonged to the same deer last year. I compared the smaller one to a whitetail I shot years ago and they are very similar. Everyone I have showed them to (experienced hunters) also think they are whitetail. Also there have been sightings of whitetail in the general area. I am pretty convinced!

I'm definately with you that it's the same deer from a previous year.  Especially by noticing the the unique shape of the peticle.  Also, by the same structure around the base.  As for being a whitetail, not a chance in my book.  I've picked up many whitey sheds, and have never seen a whitetail shed resemble that horn with it's base characteristics.  To go with that, being found in the Swakane area, rules it out imo.  Nice find though!

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes.  That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

How about this one? Not a whitetail area. Its a muley. A mule deer can have a white tail configuration from time to time.

OK, I'm old school.  CPU stupid.  In your photo posting I get only a picture frame with an "X" in a box displayed and no photo.  Clicking the attachment redirects to google.  What don't I have installed?  Paintshop Photo Album download needed?
