I'd just like to remind everybody that it's about the hunting, not just the killing. In other words, it's about the total experience, the sport itself and the challenge involved. Bowhunting, done right, is a justifiable and honorable pursuit. Done for the wrong reasons, simply chalking up kills and seeking personal glory, it's taking away rather than giving back to a principled way of life that has to be experienced to be understood. I forgot to mention that there will be a shoot-fee price break of about 25% for pre-registrations postmarked by April 28!

For anyone who hasn't sent their registration form yet:

The price break deadline of April 28 is fast approaching.

The souvenir shirts will be ordered May 3. So after the price-break date we won't be able to add shirts to the order.

But even if you miss that date, we'd still love to have folks pre-register because it'll save time/work on the weekend of the event. The last date that registrations can be mailed and be assured of still finding someone on the receiving end is May 14; that will allow plenty of time to get through the post office and to process them before we leave to set up the event.

You'll have to ask Snapshot. This should be a huge event for stick bow shooters. It won't be here next year as the event rotates to different states. I'm guessing there will be a LOT of people. I heard that the local shoot drew nearly 300 last week. I can imagine many more if people are coming in from out of state for this one. If you want to go I can bring you a bow and some arrows for shooting...

If you all try to print the whole Event Flyer it will come out too small. So...

To print out only the form that is needed, after clicking on the link to the form (and grabbing a cup of coffee because the file is large) zoom to 100%; from the browser 'Tools' menu select 'Full Screen'; then scroll all the way down and to the right egde; click on the print icon; in the print dialog box where it says 'Print Range' select 'Current View'; and then click 'OK'. It should print out large enough to read.

If you can't get it to work for you send me an email and I can email the form to you. dl_sharp@comcast.net

Non-shooting guests are welcome, yes. Stop by and see what goes on. To be a shooter then folks must to register; and if time runs out on you, it can be done at the event. It is just nice to get as much work done ahead of time as possible because we'll be like headless-chickens starting about Friday afternoon.

When we last hosted the event in '06 we had nearly 400 registered shooters; the number of non-shooting guests wasn't tallied but estimates put the total attendance at around 700.

Ray, I'm lovin' that you have this bold and at the top. Thank you very much. I owe you a :brew:

This evening the 293rd archer was entered onto the pre-registration log.  :)
And he was also the 20th vendor who has pre-registered.  :)
It is gonna be quite the affair...

Tents all over the pasture, I recommend as early as you can get there Friday to get a good spot to put up your tent..
I am going to be rolling in before noon with my whole tribe..
Last time we got there in the afternoon and we were all the way out by road, wasn't too bad, but a long walk to all the activity.

Tazz,

SSB nailed it in his reply regarding getting there early on Friday (except... it is only a LONG arrow volley from one end of the camp area to the other). Yes the courses will be open on Friday.

Snappy

I called it a long walk because my daughter Brigette was 3 and my daughter Ruby was 8 months, Mom wanted to her turns to shoot, and I had to walk back and forth several times a day.
Shooting the course with a baby in a car seat/carrier or backpack was interesting, but good practice.
This year we added Dylan, who will be almost a year old (June 16th) and probably will be the youngest shooter (even though he wont hit anything)  :chuckle:

Rasbo you missed out. It was a fair bit wet however I met some new friends and old ones. I had brought 3 bows in case you showed up. There were at least 4 big time bowyers there selling goods and plenty of other ones.

I finally got a look at Toelke Tradtional Archery bows up close. They very smooth drawing and of great quality. Top notch. Personal preference - Bobcat.

Another bowyer which stood out was Bezaleel Bows.

And finally I also liked Fox Archery Breed bows.

Camping was social and wet. We chased some deer off the range in the mornings and I only lost 1 arrow to the river gods. Trust me - it's easy to do on one of those courses. They had 3 courses setup with one moving pronghorn target. Even in the weather it was worth visiting for a day and a half. I picked up some new hex shafts to try out.

My family had a great time, although a little wet.
My yougest daughter (4) had a little misshap with her little longbow that I had found at a thrift store her sister had used until it got too small for her.
She was practicing drawing it and it broke !! She was in tears. :'(
I told her it was O.K., we had another bow she could use, a little fiberglass 20# we had to help her with.
She put up with that, and on Monday during the raffle she WON A BRAND NEW 12# @ 24" LONGBOW, FROM BLACK ROSE ARCHERY !!! :IBCOOL:
She will be having fun with that for a while !!
My oldest Daughter (7) did real well with her 18# @ 24" longbow (Maddog Pup) and even shared it with a girl there that had a bow that was a little too much for her, they had fun taking turns, but her dad said now he has to get her a "real" bow.  :chuckle:
