Todays project
«
on:
February 02, 2008, 02:08:55 PM »
Since it is snowing I decided to tackle a project......outside yesterday and one of my breeders freaked out and got hung n the wire by his spurs. He broke his leg. I was thinking about mounting him so anyway as I had a replacement breeder I was going to take pics as I went along, but I got carried away. Now its just time for it to dry a bit.

That's a cool mount. Now you just need a coyote mount chasing it. That's quite the pile of bone in the background.

Yep, I've logged a few miles. SCARY posting when you have a messy house. I'll be painting that wall later tonihgt. I just went scouting and found one hell of a spot to get that cat or coyote mount. Now all I need is time.

Thanks guys. I should have knocked hm off about a month ago. His tail went from perfect to thrashed, I guess with the weather we have had. I am having alot of trouble with. Yep, he is one of the ones we were talking about. I sold the other one. I figured my reezer has just too manyprojects. I'll see how his comb turns out. Its alot bigger than a ringneck pheasant.
I use a scalpel, and my fingers, and sometimes a pair of scissors. Its pretty meticulous, but not as bad on the pheasants as say a duck.

I know the correct way to do this would have been to build the ridges into the head itself before mounting, then stretch the waddles over it. I had enough difficulties. This works fine for me. When I am done, he'll probably be turned into fly tieing material anyway.

I was hoping the original waddles would hold up better, but they shrank too damn much and I just didn't like them. A full silver had huge waddles compared to a ringneck. I used a full waddled ringneck head for him, and it wasn't nearly big enough. I'll know better next time. I should have epoxy sculpted the head more then stretched the waddles over it. That would have given it a more textured nature look. Instead, I reformed the head or created the waddles with epoxy sculpt, so there is a reason why the head looks plastic. (bugs in the garage won't eat it that way
) I ruffed it up a bunch but because I had painted it instead fo the airbrush, the paint smoothed it out more.
