I think the longest beard I saw today was maybe 2-3 inches. Does that mean these flocks were probably jakes and hens?

it depends on how many you saw if they all had small beards then they were all jakes if you only saw one in the flock it could of just been a rare bearded hen or it could be a mix who knows

All the turkeys in the pictures look to be hens. Less than a couple months away!

Allow me to appologize for my lack of knowledge on this subject, I'm new.  I saw two large flocks that had roughly 60 birds each.  I did see a couple other flocks of maybe 10-15 birds. Anyway, these birds were making all sorts of noise, I couldn't beleive it. No real gobbles although a few jakes tried to answer my call with what sounded like a cross between a cackle and a gobble.

Hope you are not using turkey calls before the season ... you end up just educating the birds which will make it harder for you during the season.
 

The toms are probably in their own groups and hens/poults in their groups each establishing their pecking order ... not long from now the toms will be gathering their group of hens and starting the breeding cycle.  The larger group was probably the "ladies & young" while the smaller group you mentioned could be the "boys".

Where did you find the city birds Piledup ?

And PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE..... Dont call to birds with turkey calls before the season... It only educates them if they come into contact with you.   If your trying to locate birds before the season, use a locator call please.

  I would say yes this is a flock of hens and jakes they hang together this time of year.  The jakes are last years young.

what time of day  toms will be with hens now early then go there there own way usealy together
 hens one way older or toms the other, and yes dont call much if they are birds your going to hunt

so I was out calling turkeys today but couldn't get any to decoy in. I tried my wigeon call, my wood duck, my mallard hen. What kind of ducks are these anyways? maybe I should try my snowgoose call?
