scope for.22 question.
« on: February 25, 2010, 08:49:10 AM »
i recently bought a savage 110 in .270, it came with a simmons scope 3-9X40  and i also got a .22lr rifle recently. and i need a scope for the .22,  but i was thinking would it work fine if i put the simmons scope on the .22 and buy a better scope for the .270?  or will that scope not pair good with the .22?

I think that would be a great plan.  That scope will work fine on a .22.

All my rimfires that have scopes are just regular scopes (no fancy .22 scopes)

The only issue you could possibly have is in shooting at shorter distances, like say under 50 yards, with a scope that has the parallax adjusted to be zero at 150 yards.

that's why there's specialty .22 scopes...usually have their parallax set around 50 yards.  many scopes are adjustable, so check into that.
