Shottie barrel length and choke
« on: March 03, 2010, 09:46:30 AM »
What shotgun barrel do you have on your Auto 5's and why?

I am looking at building a turkey & possibly Deer shotgun.
I have an option for a Buck Barrel with rifle sights on it or a 26" vented rib variable choke.

I can change out the barrel fairly easy. Its going on an ithaca XL-300 12ga I am building.

which barrel would have the most usefulness around here?

PS, i already have an Ithaca Mod 37, 29" full choke to get a turkey & birds. Some day i will locate a deerslayer barrel for it.

If you're talking a gun dedicated for turkey I'd suggest a shorter 22-24" barrel.  I'm not a slug shooter but I believe they are generally shorter too.... 20-22".
