Has anyone hunted yotes on Fort Lewis?   Worth the extra effort?

It's shotgun only during non-big game seasons.  Other than that they have surprisingly little red tape for an Army installation.  I gave up after I found out about the shotgun thing, so I can't tell you if the ground is any good.  Seems like it would be though.

Hmm, I had just called the place on ft lewis regarding rules and she didnt mention anything about hunting with shotgun only?

She said I had to head over to some buildin on the north fort and pay $10 and I was in? I see alot of yotes out there but dont "need" to hunt there. What parts of the fort are you guys refering to?

Yeah I called them about a month ago and they didn't mention it to me either.  I drove down there from Ballard and was dead-set on hunting some yotes.  When I got there, I was all set to go and the guy asked me what I was registering.  I told him a rifle and he told me it was a no-go.  Maybe he was mis-informed.  Let us know if so.

Shaneman is right on this.  Or at least that was the rules 3 yrs ago.  During non-big game season, no rifles allowed.  So you could use a bow as well.  There's also a restriction on the shot size (basically size 2 or smaller, almost too small for yotes).  For 2 yrs I got my access permit up there, but never hunted it.

Now that I also bowhunt, I keep thinking about going back in there for yotes.
