Lets see some of last years Thunder Chicken pics!
« on: March 01, 2010, 02:58:44 PM »
Well I know we still have a month and a half, but Im jones'n. Im freakin loosing sleep over it already! So lets here some stories and see some of last years birds!

This is my opening morning bird! The hunt wasn't all that great. To make it short, the birds flew down and 15mins later I was warming up the truck.

This is my 2nd bird, I had to work this guy for about 5 hours before he came into range.

Here are some little guys I had right out of my blind. You would have thought they were boss Toms buy all the cutting up they were doing. They were just gobbling there heads off! Pretty cool in my book.

And here are some of the other birds we got at camp that week. A few of them I had the pleasure of being the caller! And thats us three sheets to the wind  celibrating our success!

Good luck turkey hunting this year.  Maybe we should man up and take them with archery only.  I've got guys at work wanting to go to three different places already and plan on hitting it up every weekend possible.  Don't know when and where yet for the weekends but Klickitat is one, kititas will be after they open the gates so I can stumble up on some elk sheds and then northeast shortly before or after that.

Is that you,......Criminal?  If not, my bad. Not trying to call anyone a criminal. It's just, one of my buddies that lingers on this site is known as the "Fishwacker". And on the net you never know how it could be!

I hope we top last year. It was a blast. 4 good toms and a jake for 3 of us in 3 days. Could have been 6 for 6 if MuleySniper would have bought that second tag. Better buy two this year turd.

Here's our spring birds ... unfortunately I was limited to 3 days due to double hernia surgery and I don't have pictures of my 3 fall birds.

Nice pics guys.  I may have to try turkey hunting one of these years.  Sounds like fun.

Here's a question for you guys though:  Since when did Turkeys get the nickname "Thunderchicken"?  I always thought grouse were called thunderchickens? :dunno:
May I always be the kind of person my dog thinks I am.

:dunno: Im from Louisiana, and down there everyone calls turkeys "thunder chickens". I know my cousins in Miss. and West Virginia call them that too.I guess its because we dont have any grouse, so we had to call something a thunder chicken! Thats just what I was raised. :dunno:
