There is always room on my boat Coasthunter, we boated 132 fish the last time they opened up the lake, non stop action and loads of fun, even though its a zoo.

I think I saw myself in one of those pictures. Easy fishing if you can deal with idiots on the water and at the boat launch. It took me longer to launch than to get my limit. It should be a good year.

I lost most pics with a puter problem but should have some on my home PC, I will look. If your in doubt maybe we could meet up at the ramp this year and have a little competition, maybe a small wager
Seriously though, the fishing is so hot I have friends show up in one hour intervals at the dock, drop one group off and pick up the next, its a great fishery for the kids too, even young ones cant get bored.

The more boats the merrier, you can tell from the pics that another couple isnt going to change anything. I have plenty of room on mine, and fish four rods at a time, down to about 100 feet.

Huntnphool- Let me ask this, care to show a Sockeye guy about fishing for Sockeyes in a LAKE? Can bring boat also... What set up are you using? I have only fished for them in rivers.

i would definitely appreciate the help...i know the setup, and you've helped me in other areas, which i certainly have appreciated. i was more or less joking about the setup used to catch 'em....but the setup to catch them in AK is just as bizarre i guess, especially if you remember your safety glasses...

No worries Jackelope, I will take some pics of the whole setup and get them to you, most people catch fish out there but some of us have figured out a few things that increase your hookups dramatically!!!! And yes its legal and ethical!!!!

You know what would be fun, getting several boats lined up and having a derby day for those of us on HuntWa, then getting together for lunch or something. I would think we could get at least 5 or 6 boats out there and that would give room for 4-6 people per boat, for those that dont have one but would still like to get in on the fun. Everyone would catch fish so it would be fun to see a weigh in.

Cool thank you Huntnphool, the setup up north is quite different. I used to always see the tourist having troubles there on certain rivers and would set their stuff up for them. What a difference it made for sure for me and them.
I had similar experiences with Silvers up there, hence how I got the name "COHOHO". The reason that my friend named me by my call sign and it was given to the boat as a name was quite a few years ago. I learned from a guy a met up there and his boat was named "Salmon Slut", he used to sit in the same spots we were and slay the Coho's, till I motored over after about a week of weak success and threw him a couple of beers and asked for some advise. Away, I went with some of the best information and easiest to do for the rivers behind a boat. He dubbed my boat Salmon Slut II, but I couldn't put that on it and have it in my driveway, so after a few beers we came up with the other name instead, after that we hit the Silvers so hard every day in places where everybody ran with little success and slaughtered them in front of them. I had personal plates that had it on them also and folks would see the plates then remember the boat, then ask was that you guys on such and such river slaughtering those fish.... One bad part of having a recognized call sign and boat was, I was glad I didn't piss off folks where we fished cause normally the truck was the solo vehicle at the launch at the end of the day, and they knew whose boat was up river... New boat doesn't have the name and after fishing for Silvers this year here, I almost dumped the name completely and went to COHO-NOGO or NONOFISHMAN, heck I could even go with NOELKYETMAN, BLACKTAILLITTLE, but thats a different topic and don't want to hijack a thread......

Derby sounds awesome. I have fished the fishery quite a bit, it sure is fun. You really got to watch out for the other boats though. Cheap fishery to, dont need any bait or special spending lures, troll as slow as you possibly can in and out of gear, and you will nail them. Huntnphol nice boat I love those north rivers, after seeing yours sure makes me miss my Custom Weld cobra.

Coathunter, if your fishing with me all you need is your rain gear, just in case, whatever your eating and some "road sodas" to share. Cooler with ice in the back of your rig for the ride home and your punch card, they do check at the ramp.

You couldnt pay me to go hit up that F'd up fishery. C'mon, you guys honestly think that is fun combat fishing for some sockeye? No thanks. I'll stay here down south and continue to hammer nice chinook, silvers and blackmouth where on a busy day, I might see 15 boats. I can understand the people and kids who dont get the opportunity to catch salmon would enjoy it, but I wouldnt think the seasoned salmon fisherman would go through all that craziness for a fish. I guess I just wouldnt be able to deal with the guys who dont know what they are doing and go out with the intentions on filling their freezer:P Huntnphool, that is a really nice North River ya got there! Ive been seeing more and more of them out in the sound the last few years.

Sniper, I will agree with you that its a zoo out there however anyone that is remotely proficient with their boat wont have a problem. Its amazing there isnt more problems than there is, but I havnt had anything but a good time out there. Actually for those that know what they are doing it can be comedy central watching some of these folks,
you will laugh and scratch your head at the same time with some of them.
Dont get me wrong, I do my share of king and silver fishing, but they dont compare to sockeye as far as table fare IMHO. I still do the 3 hour drive, leaving at 2:30am to hit Cathlamet or Illwaco to fish for 8-10 hours and then drive 3 hours home, all in the same day, a couple times a week. Besides, sometimes you just want to go "catching" rather than "fishing" if you know what I mean.

I think it looks like a blast. Just cant stand the combat fishing. Have you ever fished for springers down at Drano or Wind? Thats what it reminds me of. I love to go down there, but even it has its fair share of idiots. I know what ya mean though, sometimes you have to put up with the crowds when the fishing is hot. Id leave early around three in the morning, drive all the way to Drano, fish all day then come home that same day. Ive done day trips up on the Peninsula too. Makes for a long, long day, but generally the outcomes are worth it.
I might have to sneak my boat in at Lake Washington for Sockeye one of these days, maybe take the wife and kid
Any other time Ive been to Lake WA is to go perch fishing. I swore I would catch the state record perch one of these days from that lake, but I havn't even had time to do that the last couple years. With a mini me running around the house most of my free time has been with him lately. The best part though is one of his first words he has learned is "fish" or he says "bish" so Im already getting him trained early

Hey Jackelope, I just got a email from a buddy of mine that built that thing. He said it was built as a tender for a boat named the "Princess Mary". Said it cost $150,000.00

i just went ahead and payed off my truck and my wife's jeep....and i sold my boat...hmmm....
i'd have a hard time convincing myself to pay all that money for a boat i have to blow up before i can use it.
that thing is sweet, but not for me.

I had to be out of town on the first weekend so since my boat was already set up I had my brother and a bunch of friends take it out, they did very well too. If you look close you can see the dodger that does the most damage out there, its a size 00 Les Davis
