the best time is early to mid morning, and this time of year a howler would probably be your best bet

Not a single answer to that question, It depends on the area you are hunting for them and how that area relates to the coyote's daily habits. If you are just trying to catch a coyote up and about either hunting for food or heading back to bed the early am is usually best. If you know areas that the coyotes go to to bed down during the day then late morning and afternoons would be good. You can usually hunt coyotes all day long successfully if you do some homework and hunt the right areas during the right time of day. Hope this helps

I have had my best luck kinda mid morning as they are heading back to their bedding area, and most of the are still hungry.  While a howler works real good now, mid morning I have had good success with the small animal distress as it has breakfast wrote all over it.   Good Luck

early morning is when i have had the best luck finding yotes. afternoon has advantages aswell, the best thing to do is scout your hunting areas at all diffrent times of day to learn the best time for those areas, some times i go out just before light but i've also been spoted at this time by yotes heading to bed.  i also like to go to a spot just before dark and sit and wait for them to start howling to learn where their bedding down.just my  :twocents:

The deal is you need to know your dogs. I have two spots I hunt one is a what I would call a home base it is were they "live" so I usually try to hunt it in the early morning. The other spot I have is more like I-5 at rush hour it is a traveling area the yotes are going from one spot to another so I hunt that in mid-mornings and early evenings. The only way you find this out is by hunting certain areas alot. It problably took my brother inlaw a year to figure it out. So I would say to get to work and start hunting. :mgun:
