Any one of you use the trail cams for around the house?I am going on vacation later this year and thought I would put out a cam or two around the house and see if any neighbors come around :) :)

We are going to rebuild our cabin this summer and I am already looking for the right spot up high to put up a couple infrared cams. Folks are not as respectful of other peoples stuff anymore >:(. Our cabin was up for 15 years prior to the burn and was broke into one time. I hope we have that kind of success again :brew:

That's a good idea.

Is there any value to place signage stating that the premises are protected by cameras? Or do you guys feel that scum will just put a ski mask on...and look and destroy the cameras.

It seems that alot of the pics of people I have seen, taken by infrared from a distance are not quality enough for law enforcement purposes...

If you are truely concerned about security while gone then look into video sytems. Costco and other stores sell some really good systems now that can be installed really easy.

You gotta have power for most security systems, most trail cams can run a few months on batteries if it is not too cold. Heck, if we put power to the cabin someone would just move in rather then rob the place  :chuckle:.
