Mealy-mouthed goals and objectives...WDFW
« on: March 06, 2010, 10:22:28 AM »
I do NOT specifically see Hunting/Fishing as goals...the deparment is drifting as was feared when GAME was taken out of the statement.

Our Mission

The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) serves Washington’s citizens by protecting, restoring and enhancing fish and wildlife and their habitats, while providing sustainable and wildlife-related recreational and commercial opportunities.

Department Goals

To achieve its mission, WDFW will continue to focus its activities on the
following six goals:

Achieve healthy, diverse and sustainable fish and wildlife
populations.

Ensure sustainable fish and wildlife opportunities for social and
economic benefit.

Ensure effective use of current and future financial resources in
order to meet the needs of the state’s fish and wildlife resource for
the benefit of the public.

Implement processes that produce sound and professional
decisions, cultivate public involvement and build public confidence
and agency credibility.

Promote development and responsible use of sound, objective
science to inform decision-making.

Create an environment that nurtures professionalism, accountability,
enthusiasm and dedication in order to attract, develop and retain
a workforce that can successfully carry out the mandate of the
department.
A Smith & Wesson Beats Four Aces.

Whatta ya mean I can't have one of each?

What we have here is...Washington Department of NO Fish and WATCHABLE Wildlife.

WDFW is going farther and farther backwards....we need FISH AND GAME back!

Of course you do not see those words in there.  The wolves will control the deer and elk populations, so no more hunting needed.  The indians and commercial guys and the seals need all the fish, so no more fishing....  simple math. :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash:
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

Calling an illegal alien an 'undocumented immigrant' is like calling a drug dealer an 'unlicensed pharmacist'.

Achieve, Ensure, Implement, Promote and Create.............wonder how they are going to accomplish all that when they manage by meetings, rather than on the ground for the most part.  So many words..............is all it is.

If the dept of wildlife chooses not to manage game, hunters must step up.

Game management seems like it would be best achieved by those who know the area, can personally observe variations in carrying capacity, threats to local herds, etc...and then simply deal with the issues as they are faced. Maybe 39 different game management groups, one for each county, folks from the county, for the county... Please don't tell me that a group of non-hunters, directed by the legislature, HQ'd in Olympia can and do the job well. We have 39 sheriffs in this state.

Sounds like a good plan Iceman, but we will need a crew of wolf shooters if there are any plans to manage the game herds.

Having been to a WDFW meeting I can honestly say that the committee is in WAY, WAY, WAY over their  heads.  While I gave my speal on why the Colockum should be permit only, one of them asked me "where did you get those radical statistics from."  My response "FROM THE WDFW WEBSITE."  His response.  "Oh!"

I witnessed them get thorough briefs by their biologists and then despite the bio's advice decided to do the opposite.  To be honest I don't think they undertsood half of what the bio's said.

The WDFW does have an agenda and it has nothing to do with wildlife managment.  Make no mistake about it the WDFW can exist without hunting.  They might have to downsize but at the end of the day the people in power with still have a job.
