I think they should, exept with a permit system and kill quota. 
Give away training permits so people can still run their dogs and take photos w/out killing.

I think it is probably one of the most exciting things to do in the woods. Hearing a good cat race or listening to them bay a bear is just incredible. Really sucks that it is so restricted in this state but thats why i go to idaho every summer and the start of every winter.. I do not own dogs personally but some people in my family do. I also see where hound hunters get such a bad name from the few bad apples but there are people like that everywhere and always one in every group. Just my opinion. Had a great race last night til the damn coon swam the river.....Maybe tonight...Take care..Justin

I think they should and agree with the permit only and kill quota.  Maybe not on a statewide basis, but more in  Cougar management zones, establish certain areas as zones and then set quotas per zone.

I think it should be wide open, state wide, all predators, but shorter. Like the first 30% of each species' season should be open to dogs, then the last 70% of the season still open, but closed to dogs. (Coyotes to coincide with the other longest opening, as they're open year round.) As has been mentioned, regulate the harvest with tag numbers (permit or OTC,) not across the board closures.

agreed, but maybe having hound hunting in the oppisite time of year as regular hunting season. that way not have an affect on us guys who beat the brush by ourselves.........

I'd agree, Jay, but it's hard to avoid denning that way. Makes it more complicated.

and legalize havin a coon in a cage for training, guess if you get caught its a pricey fine

Let me re-phrase my post.  I said not on a statewide basis, but meant on a statewide basis, but sectioning off each portion of the state as cougar "zones" with quotas in each zone.

The best thing we can do is Push for a pursuit season then hope a couple years down the road try to push for our hunting

How bout we have the "real good numbers" on the west side, open hound season on the east side.  Way to many here destroying the deer, elk, and now are killing livestock...
