Feeding Central/Eastern Washington deer
« on: March 10, 2010, 10:45:35 AM »
Whitetails or Mulies, doesn't matter.  I have a deer feeder I'd like to set up in central/eastern washington.  What should I fill it with?  I'm guessing corn is a good all around feed.  Any other/better ideas?

What are you trying to accomplish by feeding the deer? that's the first question you need to ask yourself.

If you are looking to simply attract animals, corn is fine.  If you are looking to increase the availability of quality food. high in protien as well as carbohydrates, then some kind of pelletized food is best.  Dels has a variety of feeds from about $6/bag to $15 depending on the amount of protien in it.  The blacktails behind our house seem to like it all.  We mostly use the "Livestock" which has corn in it as well as pellets.  We used apples near and in the feed bin to get them to start on it last fall.
