what type of magazine?

I like clip fed 22lr's.  But only if they don't protrude below the stock of the gun.

I'm not saying it's better, but I'd go with a clip fed magazine.  Pop in a loaded clip and you're ready to go.  You're finished, and you pop it out.  With the tube fed, it's a hassle unloading your gun if you don't want to fire all the rounds.

Clips easier to work with and quicker to change out.  You can carry a pocket of clips if your out plinking.

I like tubes for .22's only because you can load 15-20rds in most 23+ of .22 shorts

You can buy speed loaders for them, long tubes that let you pour in the rounds...course they don't travel well..

Thank you, that is one of my pet peaves.  The guys at work get tired of me correcting them all the time so I try and keep quite here about it.

An easy way to think about it, a mag holds the rounds internally, a clip only holds the rounds together.  There are very few true clips out there ie the M1 Garand is clip fed.  Most clips are what are refered to as "Stripper Clips" ie SKS stripper clips used to load a fixed Magazine SKS..

Back on topic I prefer detachible magazine fed to tube mag. Safer loading and unloading than with the tube fed.

Man that is my peeve too.

The other one that get me is when someone describes their scope as a 3x10x50 as if it had a 3rd dimension.

I think I spend too much time on gun forums.

I would go with a clip. All my guns have clips. I have a 50 round banana clip for my 10-22.

I suspect that you may find the answer dependent on the gun.  Some guns with standard magazines will be more reliable than others with tubular magazines and vice versa.
