Big MT Muley
«

I'm starting to get the itch to deer hunt again after being totally spoiled in the month of Dec. Here is a pic I found from a couple years ago from our Montana camp. This is a pic of a pic so the quality is not so good. If we would have used the trick of having the hunter position himself well behind the deer (long-arming), it would look even bigger. The deer is 29+ wide and rough scored around 190. Those of us in camp call it the attack deer.

It's kinda hard for Freddy too use the long arm tactic when he's only about 5' 4" tall.

Bearhunter, no that is not me, I still look a little younger than the hunter in the pic.
50Cal, that's enough short jokes, he taught you how to hunt.

Great looking buck, I was hoping you would knock one like that down during your December hunt.

Do you still go over to hunt in Montana 300?

PacificNWHunter:
I had a print of this pic at my motel and looked at it every morning, guess that's why I ate tag soup, I set the bar too high.
huntnphool:
You are not going to like this answer. The horns and skull are lying weathered next to a barn in Montana. I tried to convince the hunter to let me get it mounted but he wanted to take care if it himself. I know, it makes me sick too.

I wish I wouldn't have put that part in. Let's just say you should make sure the animal is down and out before getting too close with the knife.
Bone:
This is the most perfect deer I have ever had the pleasure to put my hands on. It was perfect in symmetry, had great width, height, and awesome dark color.

300- same for me. That was the nicest muley I've handled. I've laid my mitts on a few wider ones back in the the ol' stomping grounds at the ranch on the breaks. But they were not as heavy and had that gray color typical for the area. Much prefer the beautiful dark chocolate color this rack had, it was almost black.
50Cal - you've got a point, but that buck looked big compared to the pickup! I bet that old coot can still out pack any of us pound for pound...
