Question On New Elk Sounds CD?
« on: March 23, 2010, 07:07:35 AM »

OK, here's my dilemma, I want this CD to be what most want it to be! (grin) I have all sounds gathered that are found in the PlayBook, there are 28 Chapters or sound titles. Each sound is named & identified exactly as in the PLayBook & when to be used or heard.

Each sound title has from 2-5 sounds each, such as GRUNTS, GLUNKING, CHUCKLING, BULLS CALLING COWS, PANTS, LOCATION SOUNDS ETC. Of course I have the cow sounds too, this is just an example.

What I want to know is do you want the sounds given then a 2-3 second break & go to the next Chapter or Sound Title or would you prefer the sounds given then a 15 second break so ones can try to work on or imitate them vocally while driving or at home, then repeat the actual sounds a 2nd time to see how you're doing. In other words each sound series would be given twice but 15sec apart.

I'm also open to any other suggestions that may make it better? By the way all sounds are given by the elk themselves in the exact situation or encounter as the Sound Title implies. This is a great useful CD. Thank You!

I vote for the 15 second break, then do the sound again so we can see how we're doing.

I'd think there should be enough space on a CD for both.  1-28 are short clips, 29-57 are with the 15 second pause and repeated sound.  Different people learn at different levels and in different ways, and it should be feasible to double your absorption rate on the same CD with a little editing magic.  Teaching in sound bytes is hard to pull off, so you probably want to cover the spectrum both ways.  If, however, you are narrating each sound and how it fits into elk hunting, then the 15 second pause method would be sufficient after the narration and sample sound.

My vote is for 2-3 second pause.  If someone wants more time to work on their sounds they can hit the pause button.  For those that got it the first time I don't want to wait 15 seconds for the next round.

Todd, excellent idea, we will do both on one CD Disc & it will also be on an MP3 Disc for ones to download on their IPods. The PlayBook will be released at the same time on CD as well, it's 4 hr 20min long. In addition to this the PlayBook on CD will also come with these elk sounds included in the same Discs.

I will say that I worked long & hard to bring all these sounds to light, as far as I know it's never been done on this scale & so complete all in one package. Hopefully I don't sound like a car salesman but this excites me! (grin) I know it will help tons of elk hunters out! It will be available early April sometime. Thanks!

Paul,

This is perfect, long awaited by many to have a comprehensive guide to the real sounds made by elk, and to put them in context with hunting situations and commentary is icing on the cake!!!

This is the kind of stuff that really helps elk hunters learn how to be a better elk hunter  8)

Can't wait for the announcement of availability...

Thanks again for all you do!

Fulla
