300 grn SST Bullet test (with video)
« on: March 19, 2010, 12:29:06 AM »
Okay so a while ago a buddy of mine (masoncountyhitman) tells me about a video he saw of some guy's testing some bullet's using milk jugs full of water. Well I decided I was going to take my little flip camera and shoot some video. Since I've never posted any video's before I figured I would try it out and see what I could come up with. I will start off with the longest video. All test's where done at 100 yards with my T/C Black Diamond, 100 grns loose 777 and the 300 grn Hornady SST bullet. You might want to fast forward threw some of it since I set up the camera and walked the range to shoot then walked back to check it out. The first video is of the shot and the second video is of the inspection of the target and bullet.  Let me know what you think. I'm debating making some home made ballistics gel and testing some other bullet's.

Justin. The first four milk jugs measured 6" from front to back. the next two detergent jugs measured 7-1/4" then there was one that was 4-1/4" and 11". By my calculations the bullet went approximately 31-1/4". With the majority of the damage being in the second milk jug. When we do the ballistics gel test I would like put some milk jugs, with water in them, behind the block to catch the bullet. Let me know when you want to make some up and go test them. You might see if you can borrow you buddies hd camcorder again.

Wet phone books work very well.

I don't know why but I really like the milk jugs. There is a lot less digging when it comes to finding your bullets. I just save and save and save. until I get a bunch of them together. Then its time to go to the range. If you don't drink that much milk. Ask all your friends and family to just rinse out there's as soon as they finish them, and give them to you.
