My first buck
« on: March 21, 2010, 09:41:28 AM »
I passed hunter's safety in 2008.  the next fall was my first deer hunt.

We got up at 5:00 and went to our spot.  It was cold and windy.  we hunted till about 10:00.  we saw some bucks,  but I couldn't get a shot.  then,  we spotted a herd of mule deer about a half mile away.  I belly crawled about 250 yards,  and I shot the biggest buck of the herd.  I shot him in the neck with my 243 using my dad's shoulder as a rest.  I was so excited!!!  I was jumping up and down!!
Here are some pictures.

Nice pictures and what a nice deer your Dad has to be very proud of you. Hope you get an even bigger one next year so your Dad will have to work hard to beat you.

JR told the short version.  That stalk took about an hour.  Just the belly crawling part was 250 yards... :chuckle:

If by "handy" you mean that he has all his fingers, then...yes... :chuckle:
