Bore Snakes anyone?

Who is using them? What do you think?

I have them for (I think) 5 different calibers. I think they're great to have but I still clean mine the old way after a lot of shooting.
 
Great to put in my hunting pack just in case...

Love Mine. Easy to pack & travel with. Kinda wish the wire brush built in was a bit more aggressive. The majority of ammo through my 45-70 is cast lead and it seems to clean it out  good. I like that I can get a real good amount of solvent through on each pass.

Still use the rod & brush at home but it goes to the woods with me for daily cleaning.

I only use them for my shotguns..and I love them for quick cleaning.   I spray gun scrubber down the tube than chase it with the snake works like a champ.

I dont like them for rifles because I dont think they do a good job removing copper fouling but all in all I wish I invented them.

Ditto to the letter.  You need chemicals to remove copper and fouling from rifles.

I've got em, and especially like them for my semi-auto .22's that don't have  bolt to pull out.  You can't run a cleaning rod from the breach, and the snake is easy to get in, and I don't expect a great cleaning on a .22 anyway.

Great for quick cleaning in the field on hunting trips.  Definately recommend thorough cleaning at home with the rod and patches as the primary source of cleaning though.

they work exceptionally well for a quick cleaning, i have several for my rifles and shotguns.  mainly use them to keep the barrels from getting disgusting in between regular cleaning.

I use them for quick clean ups, in the field in case of crud getting into the barrel.  I also use them for quick cleans after only shooting a few rounds.  I also use them in the shotguns exclusivly other than a once a year scrubbing.

I use them to clean the easy stuff out and then run a patch with lub down the barrle. I wont scrub my bore unless ive lost accuracy. Ive looked in to this a lot and I think american rifle men had a thing on it but accuracy tends to do up after the first 20rds, and a sierra test barrel even after 100 rds was shooting tight groups and your barrel will last longer if your not scrubing the bore all the time.

love mine for the rifles and shotguns. Not the best deep cleaning job but for a quick run thru after a range session or day afield it's not bad.

Use mine in my hunting pack for field cleaning. If I'm shooting a bunch then I break out the full kit to clean. Great for the hunting pack to make sure your barrel stays clear and ready to rock.

MY son is serving in the ARMY, I bought him one in 22 cal, he thanks me for it on a regular basis. If you know a serviceman - buy them one - it will save them alot of time and help them to keep thier weapons in tip top shape.

Use them in the field. But nothing beats the ole fashion way after a lot of shooting or the end of the season.

Use both...usually save the old school for the brass brush if I'm shooting a lot of cast.

Boresnakes are great because after a long day of hunting or target shooting, you don't always feel like doing the deep clean that you really should, and we all know tomorrow never comes when you put off cleaning, so you take ten seconds and run a boresnake through instead and its good to go until you find time to do a deep clean.
