Best Blacktail Field Photo
« on: February 08, 2008, 05:26:05 PM »
I've been hired to write a magazine article called Backyard Blacktails.  It's a how-to story about hunting close to home in the Puget Sound region.

I'm hoping some of you can help me out with digital photos to illustrate the story.  Relax...I won't ask about your honeyhole, or give away any of your secrets - not unless you want to volunteer.  The information in the article will be general in scope.  Any artist with a photo published for the story will be mailed a free magazine with a credit in his or her name next to the photo.  Normally they take two photos per story.  I like to submit maybe six or so.

Let me see what you have!

Here is a pic of the blacktail my grandpa got, just east of Mt. Vernon...back in 1993. Feel free to use it if you like...sorry for the quality...it is a scan of an actual photo.

Feel free to come back with any questions as well. I was with him when he got it.

Whoa!  Nice buck!   Big rack for a blacktail!

Since there aren't as many good clear cuts around like there used to be, there seems to be more good bucks like that roaming around town!

My nephews 1st deer ever, shot with a bow this year.
Shot it somewhere just east of Redmond I believe, wont tell me,  :(
but a true backyard buck.
Wasn't planning on seeing anything, so they had to run to a local store to get a diposable camera.
His neighbor is a great hunter and guide and took him under his wing.
Let me know if your interested, and I will get the info for you.

Holy cow!  All of these bucks are dandies.  I won't be able to use every pic for this article, but I will be doing more stories soon, and will keep all of these in mind.

Butcher- Nice buck! Looks like you had a workout. Wish I could have been there to help you out! Do you remember helping me haul my blackbear in 1999? You bailed me out on that hunt! Would love to return the favor someday! congratulations on a nice buck! Welcome to Hunting Washington.

Cowboy,
How have you been? Was glad to be able to help. That was a very good bear. I got real sick two weeks before the season the year I got this buck and lost 15lb in 10 days. The guy I was hunting with was in worst shape than I was with a real bad ankle. Nedless to say I was one tired pup, I had to bone him out and pack him out that way. Glad I found this site. Look forward to running into you again.

Great shots!  Hey butcher, is that a high hunt buck?  Looks a long ways in.
